Measuring Student Names

Posted by:

This is an excellent math activity to use when teaching students about area and perimeter.

Each student will need graph paper, a pencil and markers.

Ask the students to draw their name on the graph paper with a pencil, then they will color in the letters with markers.

Ask the students to measure each letter by both area and perimeter. Writing the answers underneath each letter.

Then ask the students to calculate their entire name in area and perimeter.

Encourage your students to get creative with their letters, and use a lot of bold colors.

Have students cut out and attach their project to brightly colored construction paper.

This is a great project and looks amazing displayed on your bulletin board!

Happy Measuring!
