Of all the notable people in history, one of my favorites to quote is Ralph Waldo Emerson. Some people just have a way with words! I sincerely want this quote on my walls someday--a wall I look at often and will read more than once a day. We all have those days where we get lost in the mire of to-do lists and need to remember what truly is priority in our lives.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Essayist and Poet (1803-1882) had this to say about success:
"To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."
So on that note, go love your children today. Make another's load lighter by giving a smile, a helping hand, an encouraging word. Go on a walk. Smell flowers. Believe the best in others and do not allow yourself to get offended. Get out of your bubble and try something new. Talk softly. Love unconditionally. Make a delicious batch of chocolate chip cookies. Create a masterpiece today...whether on canvas, in your heart, or the heart of another.
