For many classroom years, February has been a mid-year “mirror” month - time to gather data & take a rear view assessment of kids’ growth. Time start serious strategizing to get to year-end goals.

Which brings me to a childhood memory.

When I was in third grade, my family moved and I changed schools mid-year. My new teacher told me I was seriously behind because I didn’t know my times facts. Just like that, in a blink of an eye, I traded in carefree evenings for an endless firing line drill on multiplication facts.

Last week, I had a chance to talk with hundreds of parents who homeschool their children. <span>Multiplication.com had a booth at the <a href="http://washhomeschool.org/convention/" target="_blank">Washington Homeschool Organization (WHO) Convention</a> last week. What a blast!</span>

<span>I came armed with 1,000 Multiplication Superhero capes to </span><span style="line-height: 1.5;">give away. Before the two day event was over, I had given out ALL of the capes. YES... 1,000 superheroes! The convention exhibitor hall was a sea of kids in red capes.</span>
