Put your hands on the table in front of you. Your
fingers represent the numbers 1 through 10.
Here is what 9 x 4 looks
like. Fold over the finger representing the number you want to
multiply nine by. (The finger representing four is curled
under.)
The first number in the answer the number of fingers before the
curled under finger. (3)
The second number is the number of fingers after the curled under
finger. (6)
9 x 4 = 36
