One of my most treasured possessions--my kid's journals from elementary school.
My oldest daughter and son both had the same 2nd and 3rd grade teachers. Both of those lovely ladies had a daily journal entry assignment. And I am so thankful they did.
At the end of the year they get to bring home their journals, each day was complete with a picture and an entry! Can you say precious!?
I was so sad when they hit fourth grade and no more daily journal:(
So my brilliant idea-- Start the tradition at home! Yeah for me (I am giving myself a high five).
This Christmas I got everyone a pretty new notebook and a flashy new pack of pencils. My New Years resolution? Have them write in their journals twice a week. I am highly confident we will start strong, its the finish I am worried about.
This is a great way to have your kids work on writing, spelling, punctuation and it's a special keepsake for you!
A great way to inspire your young writer and keep ideas flowing is to give topics: write about special days, memories or book reviews. Incorporate drawings for even more fun!
