Nine's Times Tables Trick

Check out these cool tricks for learning the 9's times tables.

I would have loved to have know this growing up.

There is a pattern when you multiply by nine's.  The number in the tens column is the number your are going to multiply by nine minus one. In the ones column is the number that added to the tens column equals nine. This trick uses addition and subtraction to memorize multiplication.

So here is your cheat sheet.

9 x 1 = 9
9 x 2 = 18
9 x 3 = 27
9 x 4 = 36
9 x 5 = 45
9 x 6 = 54
9 x 7 = 63
9 x 8 = 72
9 x 9 = 81
9 x 10 = 90

Another trick. You could put down finger number 6. Leaving you with your answer of 54. 5 fingers on the left and 4 fingers on the right. You can check your answers by adding together the numbers in your answer. The will always equal 9. 5+4=9

It works with big numbers too. It doesn't matter what you multiply, nine will always equal itself!

9 x 123,687=1,113,183  1+1+1+3+1+8+3= 18  1+8=9
