Whip-It Up Wednesday: Caramel Corn

A perfect treat for the Christmas break. Snuggle up with a big bowl of this yummy treat in front of your favorite family movie!

This recipe is from a dear friend and it is so delish! Very simple and quick to make.

Pop the popcorn before you begin, I like to use our air popper, enough to fill one large bowl. I double the recipe!

Next, melt the butter, brown sugar, light corn syrup and cream of tartar( I'm sorry, but isn't this the weirdest name for an ingredient? It doesn't sound appealing at all!)

Let the sugar and butter mixture come to a boil. Once the mixture has thickened and browned, remove from heat and add vanilla and baking soda.

Now pour over your popcorn and mix until coated, and sprinkle with salt. I like coarse sea salt. Then, pour onto cookie sheets and bake at 200 degrees for 1 hour stirring frequently.


Popcorn-- enough when popped to fill a large bowl.

2 cups brown sugar

1 cup butter

1/2 cup light Karo syrup

1/4 tsp cream of tartar

I tsp baking soda

1tsp vanilla

Salt to taste
