I am always on the lookout for fun and inexpensive Math Manipulatives.
My daughter's teacher this year has come up with what I think is the best idea, yet!
Bottle Caps! Ask your students to bring you bottle caps of all shapes and sizes!
Using a permanent marker, you can write numbers on them and use them several different ways for math centers. This bucket was filled with letters and can't you just think of all the different ways you could use them?!
After placing numbers on the majority of the bottle caps, you can also write addition, subtraction, multiplication or division signs on a few. Then you can ask students to make random math problems by pulling out two number caps and one sign at a time. Have students write the problems either on a white board or loose leaf paper.
How would you use Number Caps in your classroom?
